I was so annoyed when i discovered that i couldn't use Antialiasign with the new HDR capabilities (Read: Bloom) of the Trinity engine, that i set out to find how to make it work....HACK
Well there is a well known application for nvidia cards called nHancer. This app has a compatability fix that makes it work
I'll let the picture speak for itself: Linkage

Well, i havn't had time to do some dumps of my settings since last post. But my machine specs are: Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.4 GHz OC 2GB Corsair terminator Geforce 8800GTS 640MB version
Running at 2x(1600x1200) Dual monitor. Eve running full screen on primary monitor.
Eve settings: Shadows: High Cache: extreme HDR: enabled ... doh Bloom: high (Remember that bloom is resolution dependent and not scene complexity dependent)
But i noticed when i installed the full version of trinity for TQ that i had to mess around with the settings a bit before i got it to nice AA and HDR actually working.
I'm not too fond of my fps though... i get around 30-35fps inside and outside of station, but i havnt tried it with several ships on TQ.
Will post some screens of my nhancer settings when i get home tonight.
BTW: I know of no fix for ATI...sorry

Originally by: Fjord Beukman I'm confused, why do you need the nHancer program to make those changes. You can do that from the Nvidia Control Panel, under program settings.
You cannot set the HDR + AA compatibility in the control panel, it's a hidden setting somehow... So until CCP contacts nVidia on the issue and have the setting defaultly applied to the eve client, this is the only work around.
Also, if you check that compatiblitity setting, check the AA setting on the enhancements tab too to activate AA. Just checking the compatibility isn't enough...
Look at the link in my first post in this thread. The nhancer app facilitates the option to choose the compatability setting as Sleepkevert wrote. I have no preference for nhancer...but i found that it could help me play eve at its bes...so that is why i used it

Edited by: Eraggan Sadarr on 06/12/2007 22:18:22 Ok guys i'll post links to screens of my settings
Note: I have HDR enabled both in eve and in nhancer.
Eve settings: Linkage nHancer Enhancement tab: Linkage nHancer Optimizations tab: Linkage nHancer Compatibility tab: Linkage
I get around 30-40 fps in station depending on ship model. In space i have roughly the same...
Thats it

Its called "ExeFile.exe" and is located in the "bin" folder of your eve installation. |

Originally by: Dire Lauthris Thanks for this OP. I'm kind of hoping CCP will slap a bit of code into the client to sort this at some point.
I agree...people should not have to fight so hard to make eve look at its best. Are you listening CCP
Seems like a lot of people can't use the setting i have to get the desired AA+HDR, but my best advice is play around with the settings. Thats what i did. try the differetn compatability settings, not just the oblivion setting.
Oh btw: Advanceddevice=1 in prefs.ini has no effect whatsoever anymore!

BTW... No matter what compatibility hack i use from nHancer (only 2 of them works for me, oblivion and the 00000005), i get some sporadic white flashing blobs on my ships when they are cloaked. If i turn Bloom off...there is no problem. Anyone else experiencing this?

Same for me as well. 8800GTS. 163.71's. 163.75's are up though, might try those.
(Also happens when I move around station environments - it'll just flash a bright sampled blob or a hard square for the tiniest fraction of a second when a very bright pinpoint happens.)
Exactly same effect error as you describe. But sisnce the devs didn't support this feature...i dont think we are gonna get it fixed.
My driver version is: 169.09 Beta, so dont think its a driver issue... But hey, anythings possible |

Originally by: Xi Mishikani Ugh. Of course, things always get complicated for me. Anybody know how to get this program to work on a computer with two 8800GTX's in SLI? I tried using the nHancer settings that Eraggan supplied, but nadda. I had to guess at the EVE settings because I can't seem to link to the picture of his settings. PLEASE! $1300 and 1.5GB of VRAM and I want to experience EVE in the best way possible!
Fixed the link to eve settings by updating the original first post...check there. |

Hi
You can enter hexadecimal value into the AA compatibility box. Try 0xf0000045 , with this value AA + HDR is working and no white flashing bug.
Linkage
(8800 GTS 512MB)
Wow
Nice, it works. How did you come up with that number? Great job. |

Well, still seems there are a lot of people that can't make this work. Sadly i can only tell you that i had to try a lot settings combinations before it worked for me. But it seems like the 7950 users is having problems. Isn't that essentially 2 cores on one board running SLI? maybe that is where the problem is. Just a thought.
Regarding the profiles in driver. You can make nHancer disable the original nvidia Eve profile by making a duplicate (next to add and remove buttons below profile list) and click yes at the prompt. Maybe that will work. |

Eraggan Sadarr please plot this in the OP-post. This will help 90% of the ppl this aint working for.
Done. And thanks for the great fix by Yevy! |

Originally by: Vahligmarr seem like the white squares are caused by the flashing positioning lights of the ships, when entering this hex value, squares are gone but so are positioning lights
Eh... I don't have this problem, at least if I understand you correctly. Without this fix: When i fly in my Buzzard i have small light points on the ship (The ones that make it look cool, not errors). Then when i cloak, I get flashy white squares popping at the edges, upon the transparent cloaked model with rim light pulsing. Also, the light points are removed. With the fix: Same as above but no flashy white squares.
Is this what you experience?

Originally by: Vahligmarr i was trying to say, i got rid of the white squares glitch while cloaked, but i also miss my little flashing lights (same you see on airplanes in RL). they are gone now. :(
Hmmm.... I'm pretty sure they are not supposed to be there when cloaked, and mine are there when i'm not cloaked. So maybe your problem lies elsewhere. |

Working fine on 174.74
Same here. Sometimes it helps to uninstall current driver to get rid of any previous drover stuff, and then reinstall. Hope it helps |

As far as i know this "fix" only works in fullscreen.
And regarding the fix posted with changing the filename to oblivion.exe: This is not necessary! I have found though, that sometimes i have to activate the profile manually from nhancers tray icon or in the tools menu. Then you can just alt+tab back into eve and then you have the AA+HDR.
To get rid of the flashing squares when cloaked write "0xf0000045" into the AA compatibility box. |

Sadly, I don't think so. Seems like nobody have gotten it to work windowed in quite some time.

No, the 0xF0000045 compatibility setting is to avoid the flashing white boxes that may appear when using AA+HDR and your ship is cloaked. So sadly not |

Well, I just wan't to point out that this doesn't prove that nHancer is the application at fault. This might as well have happened anyway. I mean electronics do fail. Might be something simple as bad ventilation in your box. Heat is often the sinner when it comes to electronics dieing.
